Hidden Beaches and Secluded Coves of Dubai

We adore a well-kept secret…

We are fortunate to have endless stretches of natural beaches in the UAE, but many of them are now surrounded by expensive beach clubs and hotels. These are the places to go if you want to get some sun and enjoy away from the throng without paying a price. It’s vital to remember that many of these beaches are lovely and unspoiled, and it’s critical to protect them, so don’t leave anything behind.

Khor Fakkan

You can find it on the southeastern edge of Khorfakkan’s Bay, which is for individuals with a sense of adventure. All beachgoers must make their way to the Khorfakkan port, where there will be plenty of boats to convey them to the island. Swim in the beautiful blue waters that encircle the Stoney Island formation and enjoy it. Shark Island is ideal for snorkeling enthusiasts since the seas are home to an incredible diversity of aquatic life. Alternatively, because the majority of the water here is shallow enough to view the bottom, you’re bound to witness shoals of fish swim past, as well as rays, Arabian angelfish, and black-tip reef sharks – all of which are friendly.

Boat trips should cost between Dhs60 and Dhs100 per person, depending on the size of your group. Pack all of your needs before arriving on the island, as there are no amenities, as well as form of identification for the boat voyage.

Black Palace Beach, Dubai

According to recent research conducted by luxury travel business Kuoni, Al Sufouh Beach, also known as Secret Beach or Black Palace Beach, has been named the world’s second most visually stunning beach. “Dubbed one of Dubai’s hidden gems, this beach is a must-visit for those looking for fantastic views across the water as well as a glimpse of some of Dubai’s most impressive buildings, the perfect spot for taking in a sunrise or sunset,” the report says.

The entrance is unmarked and there are no genuine amenities, eateries, or other people depending on the time of day. It is sandwiched between royal palaces in Al Sufouh, not far from Knowledge Village. Bliss. So, if you’re self-sufficient and want a few hours of basic, pure beach time with views of the Burj Al Arab, grab a towel, find it, enjoy it, and relax. It may be in the heart of Dubai, but this is about as simple and serene as it gets.

Mirfa Beach

Mirfa Beach, you can find it west of Abu Dhabi in the Al Dhafra district, hosts the annual Al Dhafra Watersports Festival. But don’t let that deter you from visiting since, if you can endure the long, long trip, this gorgeous length of public shoreline caressed by turquoise waves is nearly always serene and uncrowded.

There are camping amenities available, as well as a tiny, low-key settlement nearby where you may buy supplies. If you’re driving to (or from) Sir Bani Yas Island, you’ll have to travel through this area, so why not take advantage of the opportunity to relax for a day or two before returning to the daily grind?

Shuweihat Island

This one does need some effort, but the benefits for anyone who makes the epic trek (from virtually anyplace else in the UAE) to this breathtaking site are immeasurable.

If you’re familiar with the sandstone hue of Jordan’s ancient city of Petra, you’ll know what to anticipate from the low-lying cliffs and caves of Shuweihat Island, which appear like nothing else you’ve seen in this nation.

Shuweihat is ideal for a painstakingly planned, long weekend of camping, and is approximately as far west along the coast as you can travel before reaching the Saudi Arabia border – not much past the village of Al Ruwais.

It’s better to take a four-wheel drive vehicle across the causeway and over the rocky headland, then unload and clamber down to the water’s edge. You won’t believe your eyes if you see what’s beautiful down there.

Saadiyat Beach, Abu Dhabi

The 400-meter-long Saadiyat Public Beach is located on the natural coastline of Saadiyat Island. Beachgoers may spend a relaxing day on the beach with white sandy coasts and crystal blue waves, as well as a variety of water sports and activities. The beach has an excellent and beautiful position, right in the heart of the city. There is an admission cost, but it is well worth it because the superb facilities and services guarantee that tourists have a pleasant day at the beach.

Jebel Ali Beach

In contrast to other more developed beaches in Dubai, this quiet shoreline is a picture-perfect public beach that provides a more relaxed beach experience. Beachgoers may paddleboard, kayak, and kitesurf along this peaceful shoreline. Jabel Ali Beach is free to access; however, camping and cooking are not permitted.

Mangrove Beach- Umm Al Quwain

This beach, which is just a short drive from Dubai and opens to the public in 2020, is ideal for a day at the beach. You may rent kayaks and paddle boards at public facilities, and there is a cafe where you can get a snack if you become hungry. Paddle in the water, go snorkeling or simply relax on the sand with your friends and family. You may camp here for Dhs 100 per night and enter with your car for Dhs 20. If you want to make a day of it, you may even BBQ here as long as you clean up after yourself and don’t harm the beach. This beach welcomes pets, so tourists won’t have to leave their four-legged companions at home.

Dibba

If Dibba piques your interest, bring your passport with you; you’ll need it to pass through Omani checkpoints to reach the greatest sections of the beach. Even the drive there is spectacular, with the massive Hajar Mountains offering magnificent backgrounds all along the coast.

Information to know before going to Secret Beach

  • Do not leave anything behind; instead, leave the area cleaner than you found it. Carry any rubbish you discover with you and properly dispose of it once you reach the mainland. A small act of compassion may go a long way. Remember that even organic trash takes a long time to biodegrade and will attract animals and insects, making the area unclean.
  • Leave natural and archaeological or historical things in their native habitats. You must not relocate or take them with you.
  • Cooking over the campfire should be limited; instead, use a stove to reduce the impact on the environment.
  • You are extremely likely to come across wild animals/reptiles in such remote areas; do not disturb them.
  • At all times, adhere to the fundamental camping criteria established by the authorities.
  • Follow the signs.
  • Finally, remember to be kind to everyone and everything around you.

Things not to do on a beach in the United Arab Emirates

Is it unlawful to wear a bikini or shorts on the beaches of Dubai?

Don’t worry, you may wear a bikini, swimsuit, or shorts on Dubai’s beaches, but only in authorized areas. You cannot wear them on the trip to the beach, so you must still cover up adequately before entering the beach area. You are not permitted to bring your alcohol to the beaches. However, you can drink alcohol at licensed pubs, hotels, and restaurants like these.
